Remembering Hogie
I think of my dear friend, teacher and mentor Richard Hoge, Hogie as I called him, throughout the year, but most especially in July, the month of his death, now eighteen years ago.

My dear cat Shayna, who, for the past 15 years was first to greet me every morn, no matter how early I arose, passed away yesterday.
I watched a movie years ago where a child disappeared on his way to school one morning. His distraught mom called the police, but there was no trace, not even the smallest clue for them to follow.
I’m feeling somewhat nostalgic this morning—perhaps it’s the time of year. I find myself thinking especially of two loved ones of mine who have passed away—and how different the holidays were for me when they were a part of them.
