A New Friend
I was extended a novel invitation yesterday—committing to the process of befriending my Self, of accepting and celebrating all the parts that are me, of openly showing love for and kindness to my Self, as I would a treasured friend. Now I know well the importance of self care—I’ve been advocating it for years, but somehow, the thought of actually treating my Self as a cherished and revered friend puts an interesting new spin on things.
“Are you upset little friend? Have you been lying awake worrying? Well, don’t worry…I’m here. The flood waters will recede, the famine will end, the sun will shine tomorrow, and I will always be here to take care of you.” — Charlie Brown to Snoopy
”A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows you are slightly cracked.” — Bernard Meltzer (1919-1998) American radio host of the advice call-in show, “What’s Your Problem?”
”Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You. — Dr. Suess
May you today, begin to truly embrace all the things you are.
Enjoy your day!
