A New Tradition: Counting Our Blessings
An article on WebMD inspired me to start a new tradition, beginning today, Valentine’s Day. The article suggests that giving thanks regularly may, in fact, positively impact our health. “What would happen if we extended the tradition of giving thanks, typically celebrated just once a year during the holiday season, throughout the entire year? Such gratitude would be rewarded with better health, say researchers.”1
So it will be that on the 14th of every month, I invite you to take a moment or two to write down your blessings.
To kick things off, I’ll share my list: I am thankful for my life, my health, my family, most especially, for my mother who turns 93 this June, for my daughter who has taught me the most about love and loving, for my husband, whose love of me and belief in my wildest dreams have truly been the wind beneath my wings, for my three stepchildren whom I could not love and enjoy more if I had delivered them, for my four grandchildren who add delight and joy to my life, and for discovering and being able to carry out my life’s work.
Please bless us all by sharing those things you are thankful for in the comment box below.
”Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” — William Arthur Ward, American scholar, author, editor, pastor and teacher
”When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.” — Anthony Robbins, American advisor to leaders
”Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.” — Eileen Caddy, Scottish writer and spiritual leader
May your heart be filled with gratitude and your lips let those you cherish, know what a difference they make in your life.
Enjoy your day!

I am grateful for my family, my friends, and my community. I am grateful for the gift of good health, for the ability to play the harp, for the beauty of all creation. I am blessed with so many blessings!
