A Sad Tale
Their wedding eleven years ago was a celebration of their being lucky enough to have found love again. Exchanging rings, their families looking on and smiling, they promised, each to the other, to be together forever.
Forever ended early yesterday morning when the husband and wife were torn apart by her daughter. How my heart broke when I saw my aunt, tears in her eyes, trembling, her daughter triumphantly leading her mother out the door as my uncle watched from his seat on their couch. This bride and groom helpless, hopeless, stripped of their power and dignity.
It was never supposed to be this way of course. It never is.
But the wife’s daughter slammed a lawsuit against her stepfather to seize control of her mother’s affairs and he, in his late 80’s, just became too rattled to continue fighting it and her.
So it will be that the two will live out the rest of their days eating meals at separate tables, in separate cities in separate homes,.

Dear Edie,
Know that we feel your pain in those words and are so very sorry, for you, for your uncle and his wife. Words are not sufficient to ease your sorrow so I’ll just say we will keep you in prayer.
Love,
Jan and Steve
