Almost Finished
Twenty years in the writing, nearly two years in the editing of the latest version, the December 2010 edition of my massive (Almost) Everything book is about a week away from completion. I’ve read and re-read the manuscript so many times, I can nearly recite all ten chapters by heart. It now truly contains almost everything my students have taught me over the past fortysome years.
“I would teach…music, physics and philosophy, but the most important is music, for in the patterns of the arts are the keys to all learning.—Plato
“If you say you understand something, then you can explain what you understand to others. Anything short of that is deception, not understanding. Education, above all, should not be about fostering deception. In the same vein, anything not understood in more than one way is not understood at all.” –R. J. Kizlik
“By learning you will teach, by teaching you will learn.” –Latin proverb
