Becoming
This month I did it—I switched from a typical American diet to a 100% plant-based diet. Within a week of eating naked salads, fresh vegetable juices and delicious fruit smoothies, I experienced both a clarity of mind and a cleanliness of body—as if the plants I ingested had scrubbed every one of my cells. And too, my extra pounds began to melt away—17 in only four weeks! I’m down two dress sizes and can’t remember when I felt this energetic and raring to go.
Now looking to do more than walk for exercise, I find myself thinking about buying an adult tricycle. I actually wanted to buy one many years ago, but was ridiculed for wanting to ride a “baby” bike. Well, today it doesn’t matter if others don’t understand—I’m getting one. I don’t even have to close my eyes to imagine myself pedaling through my neighborhood. And that makes me smile.
Today I give myself permission to be all that I can be—with no apologies or excuses to anyone.
