Becoming Whole
Forgiveness is on my mind today for I am preparing to reach out to one who has, over years, hurt me deeply. I will neither forget nor condone the acts themselves—there is no “delete” key to hit to make what came before disappear. But I have forgiven this person, which is to say that I now choose to view her through a different lens—no longer that of judgment, but rather, that of compassion. And looking at her through that lens allows me to look at myself through it as well.
”To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you.” — Unknown
”We are full of weakness and errors; let us mutually pardon each other our follies.”— Voltaire
”Forgiveness is choosing to love. It is the first skill of self-giving love.” — Mohandas K. Gandhi
