Cherishing Each Moment
Driving home after a day of rounding one of our host hospitals, I heard someone on the radio say, “Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us.”
These words immediately struck me—we diligently plan our schedules, mark upcoming events in our calendars, figure out what we’ll be doing, where’ we’ll be going, most often thinking more about the future than about the moment before us right now.
What if…I were to focus only on this moment? What if…I worked, moment by moment, on practicing all those arms of love—gratitude, acknowledgement, appreciation, forgiveness, laughter, play—into every day I am granted? ...Sure sounds like a plan to me.
