Feeling Blessed
My heart is heavy over the terrible suffering in Haiti. I cling to the few flickers of hope being reported—an 11 year old girl rescued after two days of being trapped beneath a collapsed building; an American grad student who just lost a foot, expressing her gratitude over being alive; a text message reading, “I survived. Love to you.”
All these many miles away we send our donations and offer up our prayers. And turning then to more pressing matters, we go to work, run our errands, plan our meals.
It’s never been clearer—but for the grace of God, we have been given the gift of this day!
“Wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.” — Kahlil Gibran
“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because some day in life you will have been all of these.” — George Washington Carver
May you REALLY enjoy your day today, knowing what a blessing you’ve been given!
