“Edie Elkan is a believer in dreams; lost dreams, found dreams, and impossible dreams”—so begins the first chapter of a just-published book, Coming Home to Yourself: Eighteen Wise Women Reflect on their Journeys, by Patricia Gottlieb Shapiro. It’s a little strange to read your life story in a book, but it’s a beautiful book and Pat did a truly wonderful job of capturing the essence of my journey. My biggest thrill came in reading that chapter last night to my 93 year old mother and 87 year old uncle. Both had big grins on their faces—and to my shock and amazement, neither flinched when they heard our deep, dark family secret revealed.
So it is that the truth is finally told.

“It’s best to tell the truth. That way nobody gets hurt.” –from the film, Secrets and Lies
Enjoy your day!

Edie, how wonderful to speak/share the truth with our elders; and knowing you, done in love! Blessings, Jane
