Jiggity Jig
We hadn’t yet reached our neighborhood when my cell phone rang. “You home yet, Ma?” my daughter asked. “Not yet,” I replied. She sighed. “Well how far away are you? I’m tied up in traffic and Boo (her adorable 8 year old shih tzu) needs to go out.” I assured her that my husband and I would come to his rescue upon our arrival. No sooner had I clicked off from her, the phone jingled again. My mother. “Home yet?” she asked. “Not yet, Mom. Everything okay?” “Yes, all is fine—just wondering when you’ll be here next.” “I won’t be able to make it today, Mom—maybe tomorrow. I’ll get back to you.”
As my husband pulled up to our house, I smiled. It was great to get away for a couple of days. It was also great to come home.
” “The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.” –Erma Bombeck
” You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.” –Desmond Tutu
” Family life is a bit like a runny peach pie - not perfect but who’s complaining?” –Robert Brault
