Lessons from Mother Nature
Mother Nature had her way with us over the weekend and two days this week, dumping many feet of snow, engaging her howling winds, setting the lowest of temperatures. She certainly knows how to get our attention. For a little while anyway.
In a few hours we’ll resume our runs in our self-made mazes, and our four day forced time-out will fade quickly from our memories. That is, unless we turn the experience into a life lesson.
“Nature is just enough; but men and women must comprehend and accept her suggestions.” — Antoinette Brown Blackwell, American minister and reformer
“The Hopi Indians of Arizona believe that our daily rituals and prayers literally keep this world spinning on its axis. For me, feeding the seagulls is one of those everyday prayers.” — Brenda Peterson, author of three novels and another collection of essays, Living by Water, chosen one of the best books of the year by the American Library Association. She lives on Puget Sound in Seattle
“The richness I achieve comes from Nature, the source of my inspiration.” — Claude Monet, 1840-1926, founder of French impressionist painting
