Let Freedom Ring
I’ve always especially enjoyed the Fourth of July. Philadelphia, where I was raised, is, of course, where all the action took place , and where the proof yet stands—Betsy Ross’ house, Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, not to forget Christ Church cemetery, where Benjamin Franklin and four other signers of the Declaration of Independence were laid to rest.
It’s too steamy today to head downtown and visit these wonderful places again, but I’m making a mental note to do just that once the weather breaks.
“My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!” —Thomas Jefferson
“I love my freedom. I love my America.”—Jessi Lane Adams
” “From every mountain side, Let Freedom ring.”—Samuel F. Smith, “America”
