Life Lessons
Fear—oh yes, dear reader, I know it well. We’ve a long-standing relationship, in fact. How insidiously powerful it is! How deft it is at disguising itself—as anger, annoyance, disgust, frustration, loneliness, anxiety, contempt, impatience, apprehension, embarrassment, guilt, indifference, shame, envy, sadness!
But there is an upside to our relationship as well—fear you see, has been one of my greatest teachers. What I’ve learned from it is that if I take the time to identify what fear lurks beneath how I’m feeling, and then muster up the courage to look at that fear squarely in the face, it nearly instantly dissolves before me!
Facing our fears is heavy duty work at every age and stage of life. But I firmly believe that doing so is key to making our journeys the very best they can be.
“You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith.” –Mary Manin Morrissey
“Fear is a darkroom where negatives develop.” –Usman B. Asif
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” –Dr. Seuss

This reflection smacked me right in the face today. Life has been soooooooooo difficult as of late and I make it worse daily by allowing FEAR to rule me at every turn. All I know how to do though is to keep getting back up and trying again. Whew!
