Memorial Day Thoughts
“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself,” said American philosopher, writer and teacher, Joseph Campbell.
Amidst this weekend’s barbeques, swim parties, trips to the mall and relaxing in the sun, let us take a moment to offer a prayer for those who lost their lives, limbs, and health defending our country.
And let us take yet another moment to send blessings to those in uniform today, here at home and off in foreign lands.
”True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever the cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever the cost. –Arthur Ashe
”It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle; it takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.” –Norman Schwartzkopf
”How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!” –Maya Angelou
Enjoy your day!
