Thankful
A raging storm woke me up in the wee hours this morning. For over an hour I tried to fall back to sleep, but could not. Finally I crept out of bed and headed downstairs. The rain continued to beat heavily on the windows, but the thunder and lightening had mostly abated.
It’s been a while since I’ve been up that early, and I was reminded just how much I love that time of day. The stillness of the moment is the first allure. Then the realization of all the potential this brand new day holds. I sat quietly for nearly an hour, feeling such gratitude that I’ve been given the gifts of this day and the good health to fully enjoy it.
“With the new day comes strength and new thoughts.” –Eleanor Roosevelt
“Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend or a meaningful day.” –Dalai Lama
“This bright, new day… complete with 24 hours of opportunities, choices, and attitudes… a perfectly matched set of 1440 minutes. This unique gift, this one day, cannot be exchanged, replaced or refunded. Handle with care. Make the most of it. There is only one to a customer.” –Author Unknown
Enjoy your day!
