The Power of a Note
Once a month I play in a busy cancer center. Anxiety, fear and overwhelming sadness meet me upon my arrival. The patients, some waiting to see their doctor, others awaiting treatment, still others receiving treatment, sit stony-faced until they see my little harp. I feel their eyes on me as I strap it on. And then I pluck the first string. At once, shoulders relax, faces clear, smiles appear. In just two hours I “treat” close to a hundred patients!
“The more serious the illness, the more important it is for you to fight back, mobilizing all your resources-spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical.” — Norman Cousins
“A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses.” — Hippocrates
“Music fills the infinite between two souls” — Rabindranath Tagore quotes (Indian Poet, Playwright and Essayist, Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913, 1861-1941)
Sing a song, pluck your harp, fill your heart with music today.
