To Mend A Broken Heart
I watched a movie years ago where a child disappeared on his way to school one morning. His distraught mom called the police, but there was no trace, not even the smallest clue for them to follow. A few weeks passed and still, no word. One night the tortured, powerless mom sat down at her piano, opened a Mozart sonata, and began picking out the melody very slowly with one hand.
This morning, feeling as helpless over the devastation in Haiti as the mother in that movie, I sat down at my concert harp and very slowly began playing a piece of music I haven’t looked at in years.
Sometimes making music is the only thing you can do to mend a broken heart.
