A Better Day

December 2009.  Patient on a stretcher in his room waiting for transport to undergo a test.  He called me over and said the harp has such a lovely sound.  “This is the perfect place to play the harp.”  Told me that he had sung with the Met Opera when he was 12 years old, a boy soprano.  One thing he will never forget was that during a break in a rehearsal, the harpist played, “Tea for Two.”  He said it lit everything up.  Thanked me and was wheeled off to his test.
