A Harp Therapy Session to Remember
The patient invited me into this room. He asked me to sit down and play any music I wished to play. He relaxed and closed his eyes while the music was played. He then told me that he always loved music. He said that one of the most memorable days of his life was sitting with his wife in a Beer Garden in Chicago listening to a harpist. He told me that he is very sick and that he knows he is getting worse, but that he has no sorrow. He said that everything he wished for during his illness has been granted to him, that being the fact that his wife is taken care of and his sons are settled. Now he said he can add to that one more great experience of his lifetime, the fact that the harp was played at his bedside. It was very emotional and touching to realize the impact that this harp therapy session had on this patient. He even sang in German while some of the music was played.
