The Singing Harp
October 2009. Initially just the patient was in the room. The daughter came in a few minutes before I left. The patient looked at me with an expression of wonder and joy. She said that when she heard the recording of music when a baby is born, it gives her goosebumps all over. She said that years ago she could have sung like a bird, but has lost her voice. I played, “Eidelweiss” and she was trying to remember the words so I sang while I played. She tried to sing with me. It brought her to tears. “The music is coming from you, through the harp, to me, and is so gorgeous. Thank you so much!”
