Clapping… with Only One Hand

The patient was surprised to see me, enchanted by the music and soaking it up.  She had a big smile on her face when I met her, which only grew.  She sat between her bed and the window and although her left side was turned away from me, it was wrapped.  She had her right arm resting on the tray table.  “That’s beautiful,” she said.  “I wish I could clap for you, dear!”  So she rapped on the tray table with her right hand only and we both laughed.  “I don’t know how to thank you,” she continued.  “Just seeing you there smiling is enough,” I replied.
