Dancing to a Blood Draw

A visitor beckoned me into this room, and I played “Ode to Joy” as I entered.  Another visitor said, “Oh, that sounds like church music!”  The patient told the visitor that it was Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.”  I then played “Tennessee Waltz,” and the visitor identified the tune almost immediately.  Just at that moment, a lab tech entered to take blood.  The visitor laughed and said, “Now I know you’re in cahoots – the tech can stick him while you play the soothing music!”  The blood sample was drawn quickly and easily and the patient remained relaxed during the entire procedure.
