I played the harp softly outside the doorway of the patient on this ICU floor where a male patient was in bed with his eyes closed. There were two worried looking women in the room, one sitting in a chair near the patient and the other standing behind her looking toward the patient. When the visitors heard the harp, they quickly looked up and attentively listened as I played. After a few tunes, I noticed that these visitors who a few short minutes ago had frowns on their faces, were now smiling. They whispered a thank you as I left.
