Watching Her Parents Dance Again

This 50 year old alert and oriented patient was propped comfortably up in her bed, sipping her coffee as I stopped at the door.  I had been playing “Besame Mucho” as I approached her room and she put her hand on her heart, smiling at me and leaning her head back to rest on the pillow. She put her coffee cup down and closed her eyes as I continued the music, opening her eyes again at the start of “More.”  She told me, “I remember that one” and began to cry slightly, telling me she could remember her mom and dad dancing to that song in their living room.  She kept crying through the song, drying her tears at the end as I played “Here Comes the Sun”.  She thanked me for the memories and for cheering her up.
