While playing in the hallway, a visitor came and stood by me. She said, “I’ve never seen such a small harp. It sounds very beautiful.” I asked if she had a patient who would enjoy some music. She looked at me and said, “He is in a very grumpy mood.” I said I thought the harp could put him in a happy mood and she smiled and said, “Come with me!” We went to his bedside and he was snoozing, but she awakened him. When he heard the harp he smiled! His wife said, “I have not seen him smile for a long time!” The patient really enjoyed the music. They both requested Irish music and she sang to him as I played. They both said, “Thank you,” as I left the room.
