The Process of Being Admitted

At the request of a staff member, I played for a woman in her 80s who was with her daughter. She was in the process of being admitted and was upset about that. Rather agitated, she was arguing with her daughter and the staff member. Her daughter coaxed her to relax and listen to the music. After a moment she calmed down and lay back on the bed. I noticed her face was much more relaxed and she even gave a faint smile. I played an Elvis tune and then “Ode to Joy,” which she liked. Both she and her daughter thanked me as the session ended.
