A New Year
I’m spending these precious first hours of this brand new year renewing my core beliefs and re-aligning my activities to reflect them.
Shoring up my health is my top priority, especially since I really get it that nothing else I hope to accomplish will be achievable without that. So how will that work?
To start with, doctor’s appointments. I’ll be checking in with my primary physician this week, and I’ve visited my eye doctor and dentist in the last thirty days. I’m not due for a colonoscopy until 2013, so that leaves a visit to my gynecologist and a mammography. I’ll make those appointments tomorrow morning.
My diet has improved enormously since August, and as a direct result, I’ve shed 36 pounds, coming down about three dress sizes. Eating vegan with no grains is now a way of life for me, so now I must turn to working on the other piece—exercising every day, in every way—get to the gym more often, walk on my treadmill and outdoors, swim, lift weights, and do yoga. Oh yes, and a 3 to 5k walk this coming Spring.
As important as it is to my health to tend to my physical needs, I need also to find ways to nurture my psyche and my spirit. I feel most alive when I learn something new, so I need to set some educational goals. Music –especially classical music—restores my spirit like nothing else, so I will immerse myself in as much of it as possible by going to live concerts and perhaps even taking some classical harp lessons.
Oh yes indeed, this is going to be a really good year!

Enjoy your day!

Thanks so much for this encouragement. I always write on New Year’s Day but had somehow forgotten today. It is not too late - actually it is never too late to start anew! Blessings in 2012!!
PS Keep writing, I love it!
