Growing
I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about aging, but for some reason, it’s on my mind this morning. I know I’ve improved through the years—I may be a slow learner, but I no longer excruciate or obsess over flaws or errors or mistakes I have or make. I realize that’s how I learn. I’m also far more accepting of myself, my body and my mind than I was when I was younger, which is not to say that I don’t continue to work on my health, my body, my issues, and my challenges. I find that I no longer worry whether I’m liked. Of course, I like being liked, but I’ve come to realize that there will always be some who, no matter what, just won’t like me. And that’s just the way things work. In my view, this is the best time of my life because it’s happening now, because I’m working at my dream job, and because every day I’m committed to being the best I can be.
“Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength.” Betty Friedan
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.” Henry Ford
“Retirement at sixty-five is ridiculous. When I was sixty-five I still had pimples” George Burns
Enjoy your day!
