Making Things Happen
I had dinner last night with a dear friend whom I’ve known since childhood. As we waited for a table, we fell to figuring out when we had last seen each other. To our dismay, we realized that it been about year. Worse yet, neither of us could figure out why.
Driving home, I started a list in my head of things I want to do more of this year: 1. Spend time with friends more often. 2. Play more with my grandchildren. 3. Surprise my husband more…. When I got to the 5th item I realized that the only way I’ll make any of these actually happen is if I take the initiative, make the calls, arrange the times and dates, put them on my calendar, and then…show up! Good intentions come to life only if we’re willing to put them into action.
“Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.” — Anais Nin
“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” — Annie Dillard
“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.” — Benjamin Disraeli
May this be a day you put into action those things you’ve been intending to put into your life.
Enjoy your day!
