Reconnecting with Friends
A friend I’d not heard from or seen for over forty years, reappeared in my life this week, by way of an e-mail. This happened to me once before, a couple of years ago when a friend I worked with back in the ‘70’s found me in cyberspace.
Reconnecting with someone you shared your earlier life with is like unearthing a part of yourself long ago tucked away. It’s got to be the very best gift of the computer age.
When to the session of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time’s waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow,
For precious friends hid in death¹s dateless night,
And weep afresh love’s long since cancelled woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanish¹d sight:
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o’er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end.
William Shakespeare
My wish for you today is that you take the time to reach out and touch someone you haven’t seen in a long time.
Enjoy your day!

The same happened to me just recently with a dear friend of my mother who is deceased. Her children were my childhood friends. It’s been over 40 years…her voice sounds the same. Our conversation takes on a new deminsion as the one we loved is with us in a rich way. It was as if my mom connected us in the unseen world of cyberspace to connect us with the common love for her. Those happy memories resonate deep within, as we go on with life and are gifted with the present moment knowing she is always with us.
Allow your smile to light up the world around you.
You never know who you might find in your life.
