The First Lesson

I love working with those who already play the harp, but I must admit to feeling a special joy from teaching someone who never before played.  Placing their unsure finger on the string, shoring up their confidence, reminding them to breathe and to smile, and then guiding them to pluck is much like taking them on their very first date.  They will have many more satisfying moments with their instrument, but none quite as exhilarating as the moment they first learned to make a sound.
